What does it mean when your vag lips are swollen? That’s the same question that lingered in my mind for several nights before I find the solution.

If you too are looking for a solution to relieve the itching that keeps you awake, then you are in the right place.

In this article, I will share with you what I exactly did to eliminate this problem, and have a full night peaceful sleep.

But, before we do that, it is important to know what causes this problem.

Since by knowing the root cause, it becomes easy to treat it in timely manner, and effectively.

The vagina is a very sensitive to external factors, as well as to the internal changes in the body.

It is a moist, dark, warm place that presents the ideal environment to bacteria and yeast to thrive in.

Here are the most common causes:

  1. Yeast Infections:

Any change to pH level of the vagina will cause candida overgrowth, thus in turn will lead to yeast infection.

Yeast infection is generally accompanied by annoying itching, as well as swelling and redness of vulva.

If you have been taking antibiotics, or have uncontrolled blood sugar, then this will increase your chances to get a yeast infection.

Of course there is also pregnancy that can cause many changes in your body hormones, which create the ideal environment for yeast infection to settle in.

  • Bacteria Vaginos:

As its name indicates, this is another health issue that affects the vagina.

It is a type of vaginal inflammation caused by the overgrowth of bacteria naturally found in the vagina.

It has few symptoms similar to the yeast infection.

But it differs in one things, is that it is generally comes with foul, “fishy” vaginal odor.

Most women don’t notice any smell odor when affected with yeast infection.

  • Psoriasis Or Eczema:

People who have weak autoimmune system or allergy are subject to develop skin disease like eczema or psoriasis.

Eczema and psoriasis can both appear in the vagina area.

They are characterized by red patchy rashes.

  • Contact dermatitis:

It is a type of rashes that happens due to direct contact with a substance with added chemicals.

So, if recently you have tried new soap, detergents, new underwear, then that might be the cause of the irritation.

If you feel irritated, with no other symptoms, then most likely you have used a new product that made you uncomfortable.

Basically any product with added chemicals or perfumes can cause the irritation.

Things Like shaving products, tampons and pads, lubricants and condoms can make you itchy.

Now, that we have covered the main causes of this problem around the vagina area, let’s see what natural remedies you can use to treat it.

Actually, there are few helpful natural solutions you can rely on to relieve the burning.

1- Coconut oil:

This is my favorite natural remedy, when it comes to stop the itching in my groin area.

What I like about coconut oil is that it works instantly to relieve the burning.

It doesn’t have any side effects, plus I like how it smells.

In addition to that coconut oil is a good lubricant when it comes to having sex with your partner.

Also, it does protect your partner from getting a yeast infection.

It is really easy to apply coconut oil:

  • You can apply it directly from the jar on your vagina lips.
  • You can soak a clean tampon in coconut oil, then insert it into your vagina.
  • You can add few coconut oil table spoons to your bath, and soak in for at least 15 minutes.

2- Yogurt:

Yogurt soothes and alleviates the itching area, thus providing significant relief.

Putting yogurt inside your vagina has no side effects at all.

Actually yogurt contains the same bacteria that are found naturally in the vagina.

Many women are aware of this fact, so the first thing they resort to when experiencing itching is to apply yogurt.

It is really easy to apply yogurt:

  • You can use a spatula to apply a layer of cool yogurt on the irritated area.
  • You can soak a clan tampon in yogurt, and then insert it into your vagina.
  • You can use a clean syringe to inject yogurt directly into your vagina.

3- Committing to a healthy vaginal hygiene can soothe the itching.

It is recommended to avoid using cleansers, gels or soaps; because they may irritate your vagina, and disturb its pH balance.

Your vagina cleans itself, so you don’t need to wash it from the inside.

Simply wash the outside of your vagina with warm water.

Wear cotton underwear to let the air flow, that way you avoid trapped bacteria in your vagina.

Conclusion:

There are many effective, natural and safe remedies to relieve the itching in your groin area. If you notice other symptoms such as burning, discharge then it is important to consult your doctor.
